Before you borrow
Make sure you are signed in to the correct school or library account.
You can find a title by browsing your library’s collections or using the search field. Select the title to open its information page and see whether it is available.
Borrow an eBook or Audiobook
The borrowing process is the same for eBooks and Audiobooks:
- Find the eBook or Audiobook you want.
- Select the title to open its information page.
- Select Borrow.
The title is added to your loans after it has been borrowed successfully.
- For an eBook, select Read to open the eBook Reader.
- For an Audiobook, select Listen to open the Audiobook player.
Your school or library sets how long titles can be borrowed. When the loan period ends, the title is automatically returned to the library.
Sample an Audiobook
An Audiobook may include a Sample option. Select Sample to listen to a short section before deciding whether you want to borrow it.
Listening to a sample does not add the Audiobook to your loans. Select Borrow if you want to borrow the complete Audiobook.
Find a borrowed title
You do not need to find the title in the library catalogue each time you want to continue reading or listening.
- Open Loans.
- Select the eBook or Audiobook you want to open.
- Select Read for an eBook or Listen for an Audiobook.
If the title is unavailable
If all available copies have already been borrowed, you will not be able to borrow the title immediately. The title may appear greyed out and display a Reserve option instead of Borrow.
Select Reserve if you want to reserve the title and access it when a copy becomes available.
If you cannot borrow a title
There are several reasons you may not be able to borrow a title:
- All copies are already borrowed: Select Reserve if that option is available.
- You have reached your loan limit: Return one of your current loans or wait for a loan to expire before borrowing another title.
- The title is not available for your account: Your school decides which titles each account can see and borrow. Ask your teacher or librarian if you think you should have access.
