Reserving a Title
If every available copy of an eBook or Audiobook is already on loan, ePlatform may let you reserve the title. The reserve is added to your Loans area while you wait for a copy to become available.

Reserve an eBook or Audiobook
The Reserve option is displayed when a title is part of your library’s collection but all available copies are currently on loan.
- Find the eBook or Audiobook you want.
- Select the title to open its information page.
- Select Reserve.
- If requested, enter an email address or continue without adding one.
What happens after you reserve a title
Your reserved title is added to Loans.
The title page may display an expected availability time. This is an estimate and can change if the current reader returns the title early.
Your school or library controls how long a reserved title remains available for you when a copy is released.
Add an email notification
When you reserve a title, ePlatform may ask you to enter an email address. Adding an email address is optional.
If you provide an email address, ePlatform can notify you when the title becomes available because another reader returned it early or their loan expired.
Automatically borrow reserved titles
You can use Reserve Ready Auto Borrow? if you want ePlatform to borrow a reserved title automatically when it becomes available.
- Open the Profile menu.
- Find Reserve Ready Auto Borrow?.
- Select the setting to enable it.
When this setting is enabled, ePlatform keeps track of your reserve and automatically adds the title to your loans when a copy becomes available.
Cancel a reserve
You can cancel a reserve if you no longer want the title:
- Open Loans.
- Find the reserved title.
- Select Cancel Reserve next to the title.
If the Reserve option is unavailable
If you cannot see a Reserve option:
- check whether the title is currently available and displays Borrow instead;
- confirm that the title belongs to your school or library’s collection; or
- ask your teacher or librarian whether reserves are enabled for your library.
Reserve or request a title?
| Option | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Reserve | The title is already in your library’s collection, but every available copy is currently on loan. |
| Request | The title has not been purchased by your school or library. A request asks your librarian to consider adding it. |
Frequently asked questions
Why was a reserved title unavailable after I received a notification?
When a reserved title becomes available, your library’s Reserve Time setting controls how long you have to borrow it. If that period expires, the reserve lapses and the next reader in the queue has a chance to borrow the title. If Reserve Ready Auto Borrow? is enabled, ePlatform borrows the title automatically when it becomes available; readers can override the library default in their own settings. If the notification or later availability date does not match what you expected, contact your school or ePlatform Support.
