Decodable Readers Curriculum Alignment
To support your school's literacy framework, ePlatform Decodable Readers are mapped against the leading national standards in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. This alignment ensures that every digital book supports the specific phonics and developmental goals of your regional curriculum.
While our levels are universal based on phonetic progression, we provide detailed Scope and Sequence documents for each country. These PDF guides outline exactly which graphemes and phonemes are introduced at each stage, ensuring a systematic approach to reading instruction.

Decodable Readers Overview
Platform's SuperLit Decodable Readers are phonics-based books designed to help students master specific letter-sound relationships. The collection is organised into 10 Levels across Fiction and Non-Fiction, allowing students to build confidence by reading texts that contain only the phonetic sounds they have already learned.
Unlike standard eBooks and Audiobooks, the Decodable collection offers unlimited loans and simultaneous use.
Interactive eBook Features
Platform's Decodable Readers include specialised interactive tools and integrated instructional pages to guide students through the reading process:
- Phonetic Support Tools: Students can use the Click-to-Sound-Out feature to hear individual words segmented phonetically or enjoy the Coloured Read Along where words highlight in sync with professional narration.
- Soundscapes: To increase student engagement, fiction titles include contextual background audio playing after the narration ends to bring the setting of the story to life.
- Pre-Reading Activities: Every book begins with a dedicated "Super Sounds" page to revise target phonemes, a Phonics Activity to find specific digraphs in the text, and a set of High Frequency Words (HFW) to review before starting the story.
- Post-Reading Reinforcement: Books conclude with comprehensive support pages including a Glossary, Super Words speed-reading drills, and extensive High Frequency Word practice.
- Comprehension & Engagement: Integrated Quick Questions, Word Watch definitions, and Partner Prompts encourage students to discuss the text and build morphological awareness.

Integrated Teaching Resources
Every Decodable level is backed by a comprehensive suite of printable and interactive materials to support zero-prep lesson planning:
- Lesson Support & Scope: Access regional Scope & Sequence guides that act as a roadmap for phoneme introduction and Dictation exercises designed to help students practice encoding (writing the sounds) they have just learned.
- Instructional Flashcards: Sets of cards designed for direct teaching and assessment that feature colour-coded phonemic segmentation to help children learn to blend smoothly, with words organised by increasing difficulty within each level.
- Word Decoder Tool: A unique interactive feature where students or teachers can type any word into the system, which then identifies the graphemes and says the word back phonetically to support independent decoding.
- Printable Practice & Assessment: Downloadable Worksheets and Colouring pages provide hands-on reinforcement, while structured Assessment sheets help teachers determine if a student is at an independent, instructional, or frustration level.
- Listening Games: Engaging interactive quizzes like the "Listening Quiz" challenge students to match heard sounds to the correct written words and can be filtered by both Level and specific book for targeted practice.

Analytics and Patron Progress Reports
The Decodables section has a specialised reporting tool designed to help teachers monitor phonetic development and class-wide engagement with the SuperLit program.
- Analytics Tab: This tab provides a high-level overview of collection usage, allowing you to view data by Type (Fiction or Non-Fiction) and a specific Date Range to see broad engagement trends. Key metrics include the Total Books Read and the total number of active Patrons, while colour-coded bar charts visualise which of the 10 levels are most popular and whether students are accessing Books via the Web Portal or Mobile App.
- Patron Progress Report: This granular report acts as a digital checklist for structured literacy, listing every student alongside their completion percentage for each of the 10 phonetic levels. You can filter the report by Year Level, Category, or individual Patron name, and use the Sort dropdown to organise the list by Recently Read or Highest/Lowest books read. This entire report can be exported via the download icon in the top right to provide physical records for parent/teacher interviews or school reporting.

Levelled Readers Overview
Levelled Readers provide a broader range of high-interest Fiction and Non-Fiction, categorised by reading difficulty rather than phonetic sequence. This collection includes series such as Maxx Rumble and BookLife, offering engaging content for a range of primary interest levels.
- Fixed Layout: Please note that because these titles are provided by external publishers like BookLife, they feature a fixed layout similar to a PDF. This means standard eBook settings, such as font type or size, are not adjustable; however, it ensures the rich illustrations and text placement remain perfectly aligned.
- Progress Tracking: Similar to Decodables, Levelled Readers include dedicated Analytics and a Patron Progress Report. This allows teachers to verify that students are reading at the appropriate difficulty level and completing the assigned texts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I find the standard eBook settings or Immersive Reader in these books?
Decodable and Levelled Readers are designed differently from standard eBooks. Levelled Readers use a fixed-layout (similar to a PDF) to preserve illustrations and do not support literacy tools. Decodable Readers feature their own specialised support tools built specifically for phonics instruction, such as click-to-sound-out and colourised read-along, which replace the standard settings menu.
What unique support features do Decodable Readers have?
SuperLit Decodables include interactive features that standard eBooks do not, including:
- Colorised Read-Along: Words highlight in sync with professional narration.
- Click-to-Sound-Out: Click any word to hear it segmented phonetically.
- Soundscapes: (Fiction only) Contextual background audio that brings the story to life.
- Integrated Resources: Pre- and post-reading activities, games, and printable worksheets.
Are Decodable Readers appropriate for older students with reading gaps?
Absolutely. While Decodables are often associated with early years, they are an essential tool for older students who need to bridge phonetic gaps. Our Non-Fiction Decodables are particularly effective for older "catch-up" readers, as they provide age-appropriate subject matter (science, history, and nature) while maintaining a controlled phonetic level.
Do students need to "borrow" these books like standard eBooks?
No. One of the biggest benefits of the SuperLit collection is its unlimited, simultaneous use. An entire class or year group can open the exact same book at once without needing to place reserves.
How do I purchase physical print versions of these readers?
Physical books are currently available for Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Malaysia. If you are in Australia or New Zealand, you can visit our dedicated SuperLit Readers stores to utilise your 25% discount (code found in your Admin dashboard):
AU: au.phonics.eplatform.co
NZ: nz.phonics.eplatform.co
Can I see which specific students have finished a level?
Yes. Use the Patron Progress Report in the Decodables tab. This serves as a digital checklist, showing each student's completion percentage across all 10 levels, making it easy to see who is ready to move to the next phonetic stage.
