A Downloaded Title Isn’t Working Offline

A title must finish downloading in the ePlatform web portal or app while your device is connected to the internet before it can be opened offline.

Check that the download completed

Before going offline:

  • an eBook must display its completed-download check mark; and
  • an Audiobook download must reach 100%.

If you went offline before the download completed, reconnect to the internet and finish downloading the title.

Check an offline eBook

An eBook must be opened once while your device is online so it can be stored for offline reading.

  1. Reconnect the device to the internet.
  2. Open the ePlatform app.
  3. Open Loans.
  4. Open the eBook.
  5. Wait for the completed-download check mark.
  6. Return to Loans and test the title again offline.

Check an offline Audiobook

  1. Reconnect the device to the internet.
  2. Open the Audiobook from Loans.
  3. Open its menu.
  4. Select Store Offline.
  5. Wait until the download reaches 100%.
  6. Open the Audiobook again after the device is offline.

Check whether the loan expired

Downloading a title does not extend its loan period. When the loan expires, the title returns to the library automatically.

Reconnect to the internet and check whether the title still appears in your active loans. If the loan has expired, borrow the title again before storing it offline.

Download the title again

If the title still does not work offline:

  1. Reconnect to the internet.
  2. Check your app store for an ePlatform update.
  3. Restart the device.
  4. Open the title’s menu.
  5. For an eBook, use Clear Content if the stored content needs to be removed.
  6. For an Audiobook, use Clear Offline Files.
  7. Download the title again.
  8. Wait for the download to complete before going offline.

Ask your teacher or librarian if the completed title still does not work offline.

Library staff can email support@eplatform.co and include:

  • the library name;
  • the title and ISBN;
  • whether it is an eBook or Audiobook;
  • the device being used;
  • whether the completed-download indicator appeared; and
  • the error message displayed, if any.
