Requesting a Title

If your school or library has not purchased a title, you may be able to request it through ePlatform. Your request is sent to your librarian, who can decide whether to add the title to the collection.

Requesting a title does not borrow it immediately and does not guarantee that it will be purchased.

Search for the title

  1. Sign in to your school or library’s ePlatform.
  2. Select the search field.
  3. Enter the title you want to request.
  4. Run the search and check the library results.

If the title is not part of your library’s collection, scroll below the library search results and look for Request a Title.

Submit your request

  1. Find the title you want under Request a Title.
  2. Select Request next to the title.
  3. When ePlatform asks you to confirm the request, select Yes.

Add an email notification

You can enter an email address when submitting your request. This is optional, but it allows ePlatform to notify you if your librarian purchases the title.

An automated notification can only be sent if you provide an email address with your request.

What happens after you submit a request

Your request is added to the library’s Patrons Wish List. Your librarian can review the title and either:

  • approve it and purchase it for the library; or
  • decline the request.

If the title is purchased and you provided an email address, ePlatform sends you an automated notification.

ePlatform does not automatically send a notification when a request is declined.

If the title cannot be requested

If the title does not appear under Request a Title:

  • check the spelling of the title;
  • search using fewer words from the title;
  • try searching for the author instead;
  • check whether the title is already in your library’s collection; or
  • ask your teacher or librarian for help.

Request or reserve a title?

Option When to use it
Request The title has not been purchased by your school or library. Your librarian will decide whether to add it.
Reserve The title is already in the library’s collection, but every available copy is currently on loan.
