Titles can be year/age restricted on the ePlatform portal by the customers. Year/age restricting is dependant on sending date of birth/year level through your authentication option. There are two processes involved, making sure we have the date of birth/year level through your data and adding the year/age restriction to the eBooks or Audiobooks.
To find out how year/age Restricting is processed for your authentication option, please click on the links below:

Adding an Year/Age Level Restriction to an eBooks or Audiobooks

Please Input the preferred year level on each title and the details will be saved automatically.

You can use the single arrow button to assign the average year level/age to one title, or the double arrow
button to apply it to all titles on the page.
Please note that this data is peer data and not prepared by Wheelers. Please use this as a guide only and adjust to suit your school or library. Please restrict carefully as the year level you choose will form part of the data we present to other libraries.
Note: Please make sure you are logged in as an ePlatform admin user.
You can only use 'Age' restricting if you are supplying the Date of Birth through your authentication option.
You can only use 'Year Level' restricting if you are supplying Year Levels through your authentication option.

Self Registration Users
For age restricting to work with Self Regitration, the 'Date of Birth' field needs to be utilised on the registration page as a compulsory field.
To make the 'Date of Birth' field on the registration page compulsary, simply edit your registration settings and make sure the field is required. Your Self Registration settings can be edited under 'Registration Home' within the admin field.
Note: We suggest you don't use 'Year Level' restricting as you would need to edit student information each year.
LDAP/Active Directory Users
If you use LDAP/Active Directory as an authentication option, in most cases we can setup age restricting via a range of OU's.
What we need is a range of OU’s from you that defines the age and a break down of each group/student. Once we have this information we can then book this into production and get the restricting option up and running.
Note: This can take 5-10 working days to implement.
To setup this option please provide Wheelers with the following:
- A breakdown of the OU’s for each group.
- 3-4 test accounts. Please let us know the year level of each test user.
- Please age restrict 3-4 titles on the ePlatform and let us know each of these titles.
Data Example - Below shows OU’s that define the year level of the student:
Equivalent to year 12 (average age 16) OU=Yr12,OU=Students,OU=NetUsers,DC=school,DC=edu,DC=au
Equivalent to year 13 (average age 17) OU=Yr13,OU=Students,OU=NetUsers,DC=school,DC=edu,DC=au
Data Example - You could supply the year of leaving:
Equivalent to year 9 (average age 14) OU=2015,OU=school Students,DC=School,DC=local
Equivalent to year 8 (average age 13) OU=2016,OU=school Students,DC=School,DC=local
Patron Data Upload Users / Import/Update Patrons Tool
For age restricting to work with the Patron Data Upload option, either the Date of Birth/Year Level column within the data will need to be utilised.
Single Sign-On Users
If you send through date or year level information (via SSO) we can age restrict against this.
SIP2 Users
For clients who use SIP2, date of birth or year level will need to be sent through the SIP2 connections. Please contact your SIP2 provider to see if this is an option for your system.
Note: Accessit, SirsiDynix and Amlib offer Date of Birth through SIP2, please contact your Library Management System to confirm your version is enabled with this feature.
Libcode
Please contact Libcode, they may be able to send data for age restricting.
