Fixing Missing or Incorrect Patron Information
Patron information can be managed directly in ePlatform or supplied through an automated authentication connection. The correct fix depends on how the account is maintained.
Identify the source of the patron data
Patron information may be:
- entered manually in ePlatform;
- uploaded using an Excel or CSV file;
- sent through SSO;
- provided through LDAP or Active Directory;
- provided through SIP2; or
- supplied by another supported connection.
Update the information in the system responsible for supplying it.
Update a manual account
- Go to Admin area → Patrons.
- Locate the affected patron.
- Open the patron record.
- Review and update the required information.
- Save the patron record.
- Open the record again and confirm the change.
Patron information can include:
- username or barcode;
- name;
- role;
- year level; and
- date of birth.
Update multiple patrons
To update multiple manually maintained accounts:
- Go to Admin area → Patrons → Import / Update Patrons.
- Download the sample file or current patron list.
- Update the required patron information.
- Upload the completed Excel or CSV file.
- Complete the update using the instructions displayed.
- Review several affected records from the Patrons page.
Fix information supplied through SSO
SSO accounts are created or updated using the attributes sent by your identity provider when the patron signs in.
If the account is created but information is missing:
- Confirm that the information exists in the identity provider.
- Confirm that the corresponding attribute is included in the SSO assertion.
- Record the exact attribute or claim name.
- Ask the patron to sign in again after the source information is updated.
- Open Admin area → Patrons and check the patron record.
Contact ePlatform Support after adding a new attribute so it can be captured and aligned with the corresponding ePlatform field.
Using a spreadsheet with SSO
If the SSO connection supplies authentication details but does not send year-level or role-related attributes, those values can be populated using Import / Update Patrons.
Use this option only when the corresponding values are not already being sent through SSO.
Check age and year-level information
Age and year-level restrictions depend on the patron data supplied through the selected authentication method.
- Age restrictions require the patron’s date of birth.
- Year-level restrictions require the patron’s year level.
If a patron can see too many or too few titles, confirm that the appropriate date-of-birth or year-level value is present and correct.
