Why a Title Is Hidden, Restricted or Expired
A title may be unavailable to patrons because it has been disabled, restricted by age or year level, or reached the end of its licence.
Disabled titles
Individual titles cannot be completely removed from ePlatform. A title can instead be disabled so it is no longer visible to patrons.
If a title exists in the Admin catalogue but patrons cannot find it, check whether the title has been disabled.
Age and year-level restrictions
A title can be restricted so it is only available to patrons who meet a selected age or year level.
To review a restriction:
- Open the Admin area.
- Select Restrict by Year Level/Age.
- Locate the affected eBook or Audiobook.
- Review its age or year-level value.
Restriction changes entered against a title are saved automatically.
For example:
- Entering 9 as the year-level restriction limits the title to Year 9 patrons and above.
- Entering 10 as the age restriction limits the title to patrons aged 10 and above.
Age restrictions require date-of-birth information from the patron authentication method. Year-level restrictions require year-level information.
Expired titles
A Private Collection title can become unavailable when its licence reaches its expiry date.
Expired titles can be reviewed from the Expiring Titles area of the ePlatform Shop.
View expired titles
- Sign in to your ePlatform site as an administrator.
- Select Shop.
- Select Expiring Titles.
From the list, you can select Add to basket for an individual title or select Download as CSV to export the list.
Restore title access
The required action depends on why the title is unavailable:
| Reason | Action |
|---|---|
| Disabled | Review the title’s visibility and enable it if patrons should see it. |
| Restricted | Review the restriction and the affected patron’s age or year-level information. |
| Expired | Open Expiring Titles and use Add to basket if the title should be purchased again. |
