Open the Library Catalogue
- Sign in to your school’s ePlatform portal as an administrator.
- Open the Admin area.
- Find Manage Library.
- Select Library Catalogue.
The complete navigation path is: Admin area → Manage Library → Library Catalogue.
Find a title
Open the Library Catalogue and use the available search and filtering controls to locate the required title.
When searching, check:
- the title;
- the author;
- the format, such as eBook or Audiobook; and
- whether the title belongs to the Private Collection or Shared Collection.
If several editions or formats appear, make sure you are reviewing the correct catalogue record before taking further action.
Private Collection and Shared Collection
| Collection | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Private Collection | Titles purchased for your school’s own ePlatform collection. |
| Shared Collection | Titles made available to participating schools through the centrally managed collection. |
The two collections may use different lending and reserve rules. Your school manages the applicable settings for its Private Collection, while Shared Collection loan limits and reserve rules are managed centrally by ePlatform.
Review your catalogue
Review the Library Catalogue regularly to confirm that the expected titles and formats are present.
Pay particular attention when:
- taking over responsibility for an existing ePlatform library;
- preparing ePlatform for a new school year;
- checking a recently purchased title;
- investigating why a reader cannot find a book; or
- preparing catalogue records for your Library Management System.
Restrict or hide a title
Content-access rules are managed separately from the Library Catalogue.
To restrict a title by year level, go to:
Admin area → Restrict Titles by Age or Year Level → Restrict by Year Level
To restrict a title by age, go to:
Admin area → Restrict Titles by Age or Year Level → Restrict by Age
These areas allow you to set a minimum age or year level for a title or use the available controls to hide it.
Feature titles on the library homepage
Use homepage compilations to feature new titles, popular books, curriculum topics, staff recommendations, or reading lists.
Go to:
Admin area → Customise Library Homepage & Compilation → Library Homepage & Compilation
Featuring a title on the homepage is separate from managing its catalogue record or content-access restrictions.
Add titles to your collection
Purchasing is managed through the ePlatform Shop rather than the Library Catalogue.
Use the Shop when your school wants to purchase a title for its Private Collection or purchase a class set.
After completing a purchase, review the Library Catalogue to confirm that the expected title and format are present.
Review patron title requests
Readers can request titles they would like the school to consider. Library administrators can review these suggestions through the patron title-request area.
Reviewing a patron request does not automatically purchase or add the title to the Private Collection. Purchasing decisions are completed separately through the Shop.
Export MARC records
MARC records allow ePlatform titles to be added to your existing Library Management System catalogue.
MARC records are exported from the MARC Export area rather than from the standard Library Catalogue page.
Use the separate MARC records and Library Management System guidance when preparing or updating your external catalogue.
If a title is not visible to a reader
If a title appears in the Library Catalogue but a reader cannot find or access it, check:
- that you are reviewing the correct title and format;
- whether the title is in the Private Collection or Shared Collection;
- whether the title has been hidden;
- whether an age or year-level restriction applies;
- whether the reader’s year level or date of birth is correct;
- whether the reader is signed in to the correct school account; and
- whether the title is currently available or already on loan.
Patron information can be reviewed under Admin area → Patrons.
Content restrictions can be reviewed under Admin area → Restrict Titles by Age or Year Level.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Product ID?
A Product ID is the unique code ePlatform assigns to a title. It is similar in concept to an ISBN, but it is used internally by ePlatform to identify the title.
