Downloading and Reading an eBook Offline
Store an eBook offline through your school’s ePlatform web portal or the ePlatform app so you can continue reading without Wi-Fi or mobile data.
You must borrow and open the eBook while your device is connected to the internet. Wait for the download to finish before going offline.
The offline copy is stored locally. Use the same device and the same browser or ePlatform app that you used to store the eBook.

Before you begin
Make sure:
- the ePlatform app is installed in the browser or app you are using;
- your device is connected to the internet;
- you are signed in to the correct library and reader account; and
- you have borrowed the eBook you want to read.
Download the eBook
- Open the ePlatform app while connected to the internet.
- Select Loans.
- Find the borrowed eBook you want to download.
- Open the eBook.
- Wait while the eBook is downloaded to that browser or app.
The Store Offline setting is enabled by default. Opening a borrowed eBook while this setting is enabled stores the title for offline reading.
Confirm the download has finished
Wait until a check mark is displayed to indicate that the eBook download has completed.
Do not disconnect from the internet until the check mark appears. Opening the eBook briefly does not guarantee that its download has finished.
Read the eBook offline
After the download has completed:
- Open the ePlatform app.
- Select Loans.
- Find the downloaded eBook.
- Select the eBook to continue reading.
The downloaded eBook can be opened without Wi-Fi or mobile data for the remainder of its loan period.
Manage the Store Offline setting
The Store Offline setting is available from the eBook's three-dot menu.
- Open the ePlatform app while connected to the internet.
- Select Loans.
- Open the menu for the eBook.
- Select Store Offline.
- Open the eBook and wait for the download-complete check mark.
Remove the downloaded content
If you no longer need the eBook offline, you can remove its stored content from that browser or app:
- Open the eBook's three-dot menu.
- Select Clear Content.
This deletes the eBook's stored offline content from that device.
When the loan expires
Downloading an eBook does not change its borrowing period. The eBook will be returned automatically when the loan expires and will no longer be available for offline reading.
If the eBook is not available offline
- Reconnect the device to the internet.
- Open the ePlatform app and select Loans.
- Open the eBook's three-dot menu.
- Confirm that Store Offline is enabled.
- Open the eBook again.
- Wait until the download-complete check mark appears.
If the download still does not complete, update your browser or check your app store for an ePlatform app update. If the problem continues, ask your teacher or librarian for help.
