Using Microsoft Immersive Reader
Microsoft Immersive Reader provides additional tools for changing how an eBook is displayed and supporting reading comprehension. Its features include text preferences, grammar tools, line focus, Picture Dictionary, translation, and Read Aloud.

Open Immersive Reader
- Open Loans.
- Select the eBook and then select Read.
- Select the Immersive Reader icon inside the eBook Reader.
The eBook will open in the Microsoft Immersive Reader viewer.

Change the text preferences
Open Text Preferences inside Immersive Reader to change how the text is displayed.

| Setting | Available options |
|---|---|
| Text Sizing | Adjust the text size from 14 (Small) to 96 (Very Large). |
| Spacing | Enable Increased Spacing to widen the gaps between letters and lines. |
| Font | Choose Calibri, Sitka, or Comic Sans. |
| Themes | Choose from 21 background-colour themes. |
Use the grammar options
Open Grammar Options to display additional information about the words and sentences in the eBook.

- Syllables: separates words into syllables to help with pronunciation.
- Parts of Speech: highlights nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs using different colours.
- Labels: displays an abbreviation above a word to show its part of speech.
Use Line Focus
Open Reading Preferences and enable Line Focus to highlight a smaller part of the text.
You can choose to focus on:
- one line;
- three lines; or
- five lines.

Use Picture Dictionary
Picture Dictionary displays a picture representing the meaning of a selected word.
- Open Reading Preferences.
- Enable Picture Dictionary.
- Select a word in the text to view its picture representation.
Translation and Read Aloud
Immersive Reader also includes:
- Translate: translates individual words or the complete text.
- Read Aloud: plays the text as narration and highlights each word as it is spoken.

Immersive Reader is available through:
- the ePlatform web portal;
- the ePlatform app for iOS; and
- the ePlatform app for Android.
