Using the My Account Dashboard, Quizzes and Weekly Reading Goals
The My Account Dashboard gives you one place to continue reading or listening, view assigned titles, check your progress and open frequently used account tools.
Schools can also choose to enable two beta features:
- Quizzes, which help students check their understanding of assigned eBooks and Audiobooks.
- Weekly Reading Goals, which help students build regular reading and listening habits.
Important: The Dashboard is available automatically and does not need to be enabled. Quizzes and Weekly Reading Goals are beta features. An administrator must enable them together using the Reading Challenges setting.

What you can find on the Dashboard
The information displayed depends on your role, assigned titles and recent activity.
Quick links
The Dashboard sidebar provides shortcuts to commonly used areas, including:
- My Loans
- Saved Books
- My Notes and Highlights
- My Rated Titles
- My Quizzes, when Reading Challenges are enabled
Account options such as My Profile & Settings, Change Password and Sign Out may also appear.
Now Reading
If you have an eBook or Audiobook in progress, the Now Reading area may show:
- the title and cover;
- your reading or listening progress;
- time spent reading or listening;
- pages read for an eBook;
- a completed quiz result; and
- a button to continue reading or listening.

This area shows assigned titles and overall progress, with links to view the relevant books.

Staff and administrators see a Classes Summary for the classes they belong to. It may include:
- the class name;
- the number and type of books assigned;
- student progress;
- links to reports or analytics; and
- a link to open the class.
The Dashboard does not replace the Admin area. Portal-wide settings and other administrative tools remain in the Admin area.

The Progress Snapshot summarises reading and listening activity for the current month. Depending on the content available, it may include:
- eBooks and Audiobooks loaned or completed;

- Decodable and Levelled books read.
Your Activity shows other account activity from the current month, including:
- notes and highlights;
- saved and rated titles; and
- completed Quizzes and the user’s average Quiz score.
Use Quizzes
Quizzes are an optional beta feature for assigned eBooks and Audiobooks. Schools do not need to write the questions.
Each quiz attempt:
- contains 10 questions of varying difficulty;
- draws from a bank of 20 questions for the title; and
- can be retaken as many times as needed.
A retake is likely to contain a different combination of questions, although some questions may appear again.
Check whether Reading Challenges are enabled
The quickest way to check is from the My Account Dashboard:
- Open the My Account Dashboard.
- Look for My Quizzes in the sidebar.
- If My Quizzes is visible, Reading Challenges are enabled for the school's portal. Continue to the title details screen to check whether a Quiz is available for a particular book.
- If My Quizzes is not visible, an administrator must go to Admin area → Global Site Settings, set Enable Reading Challenges? to Yes and select Save.
After the setting is saved, refresh the web page or reopen the app, then check the Dashboard sidebar again.
Check whether a title has a Quiz
- Confirm that My Quizzes appears in the Dashboard sidebar.
- Find and open the relevant eBook or Audiobook.
- Look beneath the cover on the title details screen.
If Take a Quiz appears, the Quiz is ready.
If Reading Challenges are enabled but Take a Quiz does not appear, a Quiz has not yet been created for that title. A staff member or administrator must assign the title to a student or class. Assigning the title adds it to the Quiz creation queue.
Most new Quizzes should appear within a few days. During busy periods, allow up to one week. If the title has already been assigned, it may already be in the queue.
Take a Quiz
- Sign in to ePlatform.
- Find and open the relevant title.
- Select Take a Quiz beneath the cover.
- Answer all 10 questions.
- Submit the Quiz.
The result is recorded against the user's account. Open My Quizzes from the Dashboard sidebar to view Quiz activity. A result may also appear on the Dashboard beside the relevant title.
Use Weekly Reading Goals
When Reading Challenges are enabled, each student receives a weekly reading and listening target based on the minimum set by the school.
The Weekly Goal area may show:
- the weekly target;
- time completed and time remaining;
- the percentage completed;
- daily reading and listening activity;
- the student's current weekly streak; and
- up to six weeks of previous activity.
Reading and listening activity recorded in ePlatform contributes to the weekly target.
Change a personal goal
Students can select Edit Goal to increase their personal target. They cannot reduce it below the minimum set by the school or change another user's goal.
If a student cannot select a lower value, they have probably reached the school's minimum.
Enable Quizzes and Weekly Reading Goals
This section is for staff with access to the ePlatform Admin area and Global Site Settings.
Note: Quizzes and Weekly Reading Goals are controlled by the same Reading Challenges setting and cannot be enabled separately during the beta.
- Sign in to the ePlatform web app using an authorised account.
- Open the Admin area.
- Go to Global Site Settings.
- Find Enable Reading Challenges? and select Yes.
- In Min Weekly Reading Goal, enter the minimum number of reading and listening minutes required each week.
- Select Save.
If the minimum is left blank, the Weekly Reading Goal defaults to 60 minutes per week. Students can increase their own target but cannot set it below this minimum.
After Reading Challenges are enabled:
- My Quizzes appears in the Dashboard sidebar;
- the Weekly Goal area appears;
- weekly reading and listening activity becomes available; and
- Take a Quiz appears on title details screens where a Quiz is ready.
Users may need to refresh the web page or reopen the app before the new features appear.
Turn Reading Challenges off
- Go to Admin area → Global Site Settings.
- Set Enable Reading Challenges? to No.
- Select Save.
My Quizzes, Weekly Reading Goals and Quiz access will no longer be available while Reading Challenges are switched off. Contact ePlatform Support before disabling the setting if you need information about previously recorded Quiz results or goal activity.
