How Students Access Class Set eBooks
After a Class Set Booking is completed, the additional eBook copies are available to the school through the Shared Collection for the booking period. Students use their normal ePlatform accounts to find, borrow, and read the title.
Students do not need a separate Class Set account or a special version of the ePlatform app.

How student access works
A Class Set provides multiple copies of the same eBook so several students can borrow it simultaneously.
Purchasing the Class Set makes the additional copies available through the school’s reader catalogue. Students then borrow the title using the same process as any other eBook.
Before students begin
Confirm that:
- the Class Set purchase has been completed;
- the required eBook appears in the school’s reader catalogue;
- the Class Set booking covers the planned reading period;
- each student has an active ePlatform account;
- students know how to sign in to the school’s portal; and
- the school purchased enough copies for the planned simultaneous readers.
Find the Class Set title
- Open the school’s ePlatform web portal or mobile app.
- Sign in using the normal school account.
- Select Browse or use the search field.
- Search for the title or author.
- Open the correct eBook from the results.
If both eBook and Audiobook formats appear, select the eBook. Class Sets are currently available for eligible eBooks rather than Audiobooks.
Borrow the eBook
- Open the Class Set eBook’s information page.
- Select Borrow.
- Open the eBook to begin reading.
Each student should borrow the title using their own account. Students should not share sign-in details.
Find the borrowed eBook
After borrowing, students can find the title under Loans.
- Open Loans.
- Find the borrowed Class Set eBook.
- Select the title to continue reading.
When students use the same ePlatform account across supported devices, they can continue reading through that account.
If the eBook has been assigned
Purchasing a Class Set and assigning an eBook are separate actions.
If a teacher or administrator assigns the Class Set eBook to selected students, the assignment is managed through:
Admin area → Manage Classes → Assign Books
A student may not be able to return an assigned eBook while the assignment is active. The school controls the assigned access period.
Class Set booking duration and student loan time
The booking duration controls how long the additional Class Set copies are available to the school. A booking can run for 1 to 12 months.
The individual student loan period is controlled separately by Admin area → Manage Library → Global Site Settings → Class Set Loan Time. The maximum is 21 days. If the field is blank, it uses the library’s standard Loan Time.
If a student cannot borrow the eBook
Check the following:
- Correct account: Confirm that the student is signed in to the correct school account.
- Correct format: Confirm that the student selected the Class Set eBook rather than an Audiobook or another edition.
- Available copies: All purchased copies may already be on loan if more students are borrowing than the number of copies available.
- Loan limit: The student may have reached the maximum number of titles they can borrow.
- Content restrictions: An age or year-level restriction may prevent the student from accessing the title.
- Patron account: Confirm that the student’s account exists and is active.
- Booking period: Confirm that the Class Set is available for the required reading period.
