How to Assign Books & Manage Classes
Bulk Add Students to Classes
Before you begin
Before creating a class, confirm that:
- you can access the ePlatform Admin area;
- the students have ePlatform patron accounts;
- the students appear under Admin area → Patrons; and
- you know which students should belong to the class.
If the required students do not appear in the patron list, add or update their accounts before creating the class.
Open Manage Classes
- Sign in to your school’s ePlatform portal.
- Open the Admin area.
- Find Manage Classes.
- Select Add Classes.
The complete navigation path is: Admin area → Manage Classes → Add Classes.
Create a class
- Go to Admin area → Manage Classes → Add Classes.
- Use the available class controls to create the new class.
- Add the students who should belong to the class.
- Review the selected students before completing the class setup.
After creating the class, open it again and confirm that the expected students appear in the class.
Review or update a class
Review existing classes when students change classes or when you are preparing ePlatform for a new school year.
- Open Manage Classes from the Admin area.
- Open the class you want to review.
- Check that the class contains the correct students.
- Add any missing students.
- Remove students who should no longer belong to the class.
- Apply the changes after checking the updated class membership.
Updating a student’s class does not replace the need to keep their patron account information current. Review patron details separately under Admin area → Patrons.
Remove an obsolete class
Classes from a previous school year may no longer be required. Before removing a class:
- confirm that the class is no longer in use;
- check that you have selected the correct class; and
- review any current book assignments associated with the class or its students.
Open the class from Manage Classes and use the available class controls to remove it.
If you cannot find a student
Classes use students who already have patron accounts in ePlatform. If a student is unavailable when you are setting up a class, go to:
Admin area → Patrons
Check that:
- the student has an account;
- the student’s account is active;
- the student’s name and other account information are correct; and
- your latest patron import or account synchronisation has been completed.
For manually managed patron accounts
To add or update multiple patrons, go to:
Admin area → Patrons → Import / Update Patrons
For automatically managed patron accounts
If your school manages accounts through SSO or another integration, check that the student is present in the connected source system. Ask your IT team to review the student’s source account and synchronised information if necessary.
Next steps
After creating and reviewing the class, you can:
- create QR code logins for students;
- assign books to students; and
- view assigned books and reading progress.
Book assignments are managed under Admin area → Manage Classes → Assign Books.
