Creating QR Code Logins for Students
QR code sign-in cards give students a simple way to access ePlatform without typing their username and password each time.
A staff member or administrator first creates a class, adds its students, and then downloads the sign-in cards for that class.

Before you begin
Confirm that:
- you can sign in using a staff or administrator account;
- the students have active ePlatform patron accounts;
- the students appear under Admin area → Patrons; and
- the required class has been created or is ready to be created.
Create or open a class
- Sign in to your school’s ePlatform portal using a staff or administrator account.
- Open the Admin area.
- Go to Manage Classes.
- Select Add Classes.
- Create a new class or open the class whose sign-in cards you need.
The class-management navigation path is: Admin area → Manage Classes → Add Classes.
If your school has not created a class before, the page may display Create Your First Class.
Add students to the class
- Open the required class.
- Select Add Students.
- Add the students who should belong to the class.
- Review the class membership and confirm that all required students are included.
If a student cannot be found, go to Admin area → Patrons and confirm that the student has an active patron account.
Download the sign-in cards
After all required students have been added to the class:
- Open the class.
- Select Download Library Sign-in Cards.
- Open the downloaded file.
- Print the sign-in cards.
- Cut out the individual cards and distribute them to the appropriate students.
Check that each card is given to the correct student.
How students sign in with a QR code
To sign in using a student QR code:
- Open the school’s ePlatform sign-in page.
- Select Sign In with QR Code.
- Select Click Here to Activate Camera.
- Allow ePlatform to access the device’s camera if prompted.
- Hold the student’s sign-in card in front of the camera.
- Wait for ePlatform to scan the QR code and sign in.
The QR code should be clearly visible and held steady while it is being scanned.
Understanding the different ePlatform QR codes
ePlatform uses QR codes for two different purposes:
| QR code | What it does |
|---|---|
| Student sign-in card | Allows the student to sign in to ePlatform using the QR code provided by their teacher or librarian. |
| Library setup QR code | Adds a school or library to the ePlatform app. It does not replace the student’s sign-in method. |
For student access, use the QR code from the student’s downloaded Library Sign-in Card.
Keep sign-in cards secure
A student sign-in card provides access to that student’s ePlatform account. Treat each card as sign-in information.
- Give each card only to the correct student.
- Do not publish sign-in cards on a public website or shared noticeboard.
- Store printed cards securely when they are not being used.
- Ask students to tell a teacher or librarian if a card is lost.
