SuperLit Decodable Readers include activities inside each book and additional teaching resources for phonics instruction, practice, and assessment.
Resources are organised by phonetic level so teachers can select materials that match the sounds and words students are learning.

Activities inside Decodable Readers
Each Decodable Reader includes activities before, during, and after the main text.
Before reading
- Super Sounds: reviews the phonemes used in the book.
- Phonics Activity: asks students to find specific digraphs in the text.
- High Frequency Words: introduces frequently used words before reading begins.
During reading
- Quick Questions: checks understanding of the text.
- Word Watch: provides definitions for words used in the book.
- Partner Prompts: provides prompts for discussing the text with another reader.
After reading
- Glossary: reviews important words and their meanings.
- Super Words: provides speed-reading practice.
- High Frequency Word practice: reinforces the frequently used words from the book.
Scope and lesson support
Regional Scope and Sequence documents show the order in which graphemes and phonemes are introduced across the ten Decodable Reader levels.
Separate documents are available for Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. These are explained in Decodable Reader Scope and Sequence.
Dictation exercises
Dictation exercises allow students to practise encoding by writing the sounds they have learned.
Select dictation exercises that match the phonetic level or sounds currently being taught.
Instructional flashcards
Flashcard sets can be used for direct teaching and assessment. They include:
- colour-coded phonemic segmentation;
- support for blending sounds; and
- words organised by increasing difficulty within each level.
Word Decoder
Word Decoder is an interactive tool for exploring the phonetic structure of a word.
- Open Word Decoder.
- Enter a word.
- Review the graphemes identified by the tool.
- Listen as the word is spoken phonetically.
Printable practice and assessment
Available printable resources include:
- Worksheets: provides additional practice connected to the phonetic level.
- Colouring pages: provides hands-on reinforcement.
- Assessment sheets: helps determine whether a student is reading at an independent, instructional, or frustration level.
Listening games
Interactive listening games include the Listening Quiz. Students listen to a sound and match it to the correct written word.
The Listening Quiz can be filtered by phonetic level and by individual book for targeted practice.
